Who doesn’t
have a fantastic list of resolutions for the New Year come New Years Day? I know
that each year I sit down with my favourite pen, a cold beverage and my journal
and flesh out resolutions for myself. It is exciting when I am penning them, I
am all charged up and ready to go, rearing my body to resolve all the things
that I did not achieve in the last year, and will work mighty darn hard to
resolve in the coming year.
The downside
to resolve is it usually fades. Becomes inflexible, and turns into a shaming, guilt
session during our weakest points.
Where did it
happen? What did we do wrong? Why did I not achieve what I set down to resolve?
The truth is simple, and easy to remember – Intent.
It comes
back to setting the intent, being clear and specific and setting attainable
goals that are flexible, changeable, and that speak to our heart.
The second
aspect to setting an intention that creates manifestation is that we must come
back to them daily. This is where having a few strong, clear goals in mind that
we can break down either daily, weekly or monthly goes a long way in creating a
powerful message to the universe rather than a list that we usually forget to
check off during the entire year.
Make each one purposeful.
If the idea
of running laps around the oval near your house makes your want sit down on the
coach and eat potato chips to avoid it, look at the reason why. What can you do
instead that will help you be the best YOU in each moment, and to create
constant change in your physical, mental and spiritual health? What about a
walk around the block? Swimming at the beach once a week?
The main aim
of any goal is that you create movement, and learning the way you move best, so
that each week you can set an attainable goal to challenge it. Using the
example of walking, you can challenge it by adding another street, or finding a
walking path along the beach, one you have never travelled before.
